Lottery Information
November 6, 1984, 58% of Californian voters approved Proposition Number 37, the California State Lottery Act. The Act provides that at least 34% of the Lottery revenues must go towards public education. The additional funding provides schools with much needed additional resources to meet their local needs. The act specifies that the lottery is to be operated and administered by a Commission appointed by the Governor. The Legislature has the authority to amend the California Lottery Act if it furthers the purposes of the Act.
